SpaLEAD™: Spa Management Development Programme portfolio includes customised learning solutions and open programmes for spa and product house trainers, and spa & wellness directors and managers. We recognised the need for professional management training in the spa industry and developed SpaLEAD™, a ground breaking Wellness Leadership Development programme consisting of four individual one-week workshops.
What we did
Personal Leadership: During this workshop we encourage participants to consider the role they play in embracing wellness and how they can respond as leaders to industry changes. Participants gain insight into their own behaviour and personal leadership style through DISC, and reflect on how this links to wellness and the impact they have on their guests and employees. Participants also learn to effectively plan, organise and make use of their day within the wellness environment.
Team Leadership: During Team Leadership we examine how to harness good team management skills, which are essential for success in any type of spa or wellness centre. Participants learn about team leadership activities including recruitment, coaching, providing feedback and managing team performance. Motivation, delegation, team dynamics and making the most of team strengths are also explored along with ideas on how to embed and role model wellness.
Business Leadership: We designed this workshop to make the interpretation and understanding of financial information less daunting, through comprehensive explanations and case studies based on real spa business situations. We explore ways of setting and measuring key spa performance indicators, marketing the spa and retailing, and creating and implementing a unique guest experience.
Wellness Leadership: In this workshop we provide participants with an understanding of wellness and how they can move towards managing a business that integrates wellness principles and creates wellness for clients, employees, and themselves whilst generating a profit. During the workshop we focus on role models of wellness, the illness-wellness continuum, designing wellness programmes and helping spa and corporate clients to achieve higher levels of vitality, health and wellbeing.
Before the workshops we ask participants to complete pre-work. We use active learning techniques, such as spa business simulations, case studies, group and individual feedback sessions as well as behavioural style coaching. Following the workshops, we offer a unique follow-up service, which includes remote coaching, action plans, projects, telephone, and email support.
SpaLEAD™ was successfully launched in Asia in 2009. We have attracted participants from award winning companies including Chi Spa (Shanrgi-La Hotels), Chiva-Som, Kamalaya, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, Serena Spas, Six Senses and Spa Village (YTL Hotels). SpaLEAD™ has supported these individuals by enhancing their management skills and knowledge resulting in a positive impact on their spa operation.
